When he is not at the ball field being his son’s biggest fan, or dancing in the kitchen with his awesome wife, Matt Cross is stirring up and sharing about the reality of living a relationally rich life with others. As a gifted communicator and teacher, Matt has been sharing “simple Forrest Gump style wisdom,” and life application for over 20 years, with people from all over the world and different walks of life.
After years of being tossed around relationally and just going through the motions with friends and family a like, Matt realized he was getting hurt and hurting others. He lacked relational wisdom and knew something had to change. He wanted to learn to love well and mean it.
Understanding he was not alone in his struggle – that no one had a grasp on this, and no one was talking about it – Matt began to collect small nuggets of truthful wisdom and piece them together, building the foundation for something special, that has been able to transcend across all cultures, generations, and lifestyles. People from all walks of life and generations are suffering relationally – due to a lack of wisdom, but lives and relationships are transformed through these nuggets of truth.
From CEOs, doctors, professional athletes, college students, electricians, lawyers, soldiers, the homeless, and many others from all over the United States, Honduras, Brazil, England, Scotland, Ireland, Kenya, Mexico, Czech Republic, and beyond, lives have been, and are being, changed by the reality of the meaning of life: RELATIONSHIPS.
As the founder of SURF (a 501(c)3 non-profit ministry which includes SURFchurch, mattcross.us, and SURFya), motivational speaker, published author, professional sports chaplain, life coach, husband, dad, and Pirates fan, Matt Cross is an ordinary guy with a passion for sharing this life changing message with others, so they too may become OUTRAGEOUSLY Relationally Rich. The formula is simple: Love God, Love people, and Serve the world. The foundation is solid: 1. The meaning of your life is Relationships. 2. The problem with life is sin which equals selfishness. 3. The substance of life is decisions. 4. The Result of life is a legacy (good or bad). 5. A billion dollars worth of wisdom only has value to those that are humble & teachable. The process is transformational : learn what love is , learn what love does, DO THAT! The result is a never ending adventure : Rinse & Repeat.
Matt, Sherry, and their son, Caleb, live in Virginia, but are hoping to move to Tennessee, while dreaming of moving to Anna Maria Island Florida.
